Today we will talk about the film Azaad produced and directed by SM Sriramulu Naidu.  The story was written by Rajendra Krishna.  It was the highest grossing film of 1955.  Dilip Kumar, Meena Kumari, Pran and Omprakash were in the lead roles.

 Dilip Kumar Saheb received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for this film.  Seeing Dilip Kumar and Meena Kumari, it does not seem that the film will be a comedy!  Dilip saheb became a tragedy king by doing serious films, but he started feeling that he was getting depressed.  He met psychiatrist Dr. WD Nichols, who advised Dilip Sahab to switch to comedy.

 The music composer was C. Ramchandra.  Initially Naidu ji approached Naushad ji to sing 10 tunes within 30 days, for which he was offered additional remuneration.  On this, Naushad ji said “Naidu saab, have you understood this to be a baniya shop?  You will not get a song in three days.  Then Naidu contacted C. Ramchandra ji and Ramchandra ji composed the tunes in record time.  Rajendra Krishna ji wrote the lyrics.  Playback singing by Lata ji and Usha ji.  The songs were like this.
