Gopal and Seema are two young children who live in a small town in India. Gopal lives with Bansilal, whom he believes to be his father; The very wealthy Seema lives with her father, Rana, who disapproves of her friendship with Gopal. He wants Tulsilal to send Gopal away, which he does. Years later, the now-adult Gopal is curious to know what happened in the small town especially with Bansilal and Seema, so he goes back and meets Seema and they rekindle their friendship, which Turns into great love for Rana. Gopal is told that Bansilal is dead, but Saloni, the village belle who is in love with Gopal, tells him that she has seen Bansilal's ghost. A pragmatic Gopal must now use all his resources to find out the truth behind the ghost story, secure his land against a greedy Rana, and defend his right to the property that his father bequeathed to him. He was abandoned by none other than his stepmother, who has conspired with her brother Kailash to ensure that Gopal is not only deprived of his rightful inheritance, but also loses Seema to Kailash.
