After the success of Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal and Yashoda, Samantha is all set to enthrall everyone with director Gunasekhar's Shaakuntalam. On January 2, the makers of Shaakuntalam took to social media to announce the film's release date. Sharing the new poster, the makers revealed that the film will grace the screens on February 17. As reported earlier, Shaakuntalam will be released in 2D and 3D in multiple languages.

By Shweta Keshri: The much-awaited period film Shaakuntalam, which was set to release on November 4, will now be delayed. The film, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan, is based on Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shaakuntalam. The film will now be made in 3D, due to which the makers have postponed its release date. Shaakuntalam, which was set to release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, will now have a new release date.
SHAAKUNTALAM'S RELEASE DELYAYED TO MAKE IT 3D
The makers took to Twitter to share an official note to announce that the release date of Shakuntalam will be delayed. "We will be announcing the new release date soon! '#Shaankuntalam Also in 3D," read the caption.
The note read, "We aim to give a bigger experience with Shaakuntalam and immerse you in the World of Shaakuntalam, for which we as a team felt 3D would be a brilliant way. To facilitate this, we would be taking some time to put forth and so, will be unable to meet the earlier announced date of release. We thank the support and love showered upon us. From around the worl, hoping for your support in this too!. We will be announcing the new release date soon."
To ensure a bigger and enthralling experience, the Shaakuntalam makers will now be releasing the film in 3D. The makers will complete the 3D version of the film and will soon announce the new release date.
ABOUT SHAAKUNTALAM
The story of Shaakuntalam portrays the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant from Mahabharata, portrayed by Samantha and Dev Mohan. The film's cast includes Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr M Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla and Jisshu Sengupta. The film also marks debut of Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha, who will be seen playing the role of Prince Bharata.
Presented by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations in collaboration with Gunaa Teamworks, produced by Neelima Guna, and written and directed by Gunasekhar, the film will release in 3D soon.
