Storyline
The film begins in a hamlet of conventional sea divers who are experts in squeezing out pearls. Gokul (Jayant) their chief is altruistic, he wedlock his son Manik (Jagdeep) with Lakshmi (Veena) and decides to go for a pilgrimage. The next day, Manik first time participates in their profession and acquires a precious pearl. Tragically, he dies as cornered by an octopus. Later, Lakshmi also passes away giving birth to a baby girl Roopa. As soon as, the government seals the extraction of pearls from the sea. So, Gokul bestows villagers who turn into fishermen. Years roll by when a Zamindar (D.K. Sapru) discovers the existence of precious pearls in that region. Hence, he conspires to squat it, for which he interweaves his son Vijay (Jeetendra) with them. To get wind of villagers' soft spots and deliberately accomplish the task. Accordingly, Vijay moves, but he surrenders to their innocence, unwell to beguile them and also antagonize his father. In tandem, he has a crush on spitfire Roopa (Babita). After a while, Gokul identifies Vijay, expels him, and Roopa resents. However, Gokul fathoms his probity and proceeds toward Zamindar with the proposal. In this step, Zamindar heckles and seeks a huge amount of dowry. Then, offended Gokul promises to deliver everything he expects. Therefore, he takes up jeopardizes adventure, possesses a costly pearl, and makes all arrangements by mortgaging it. Just before, Zamindar plots by heisting the pearl, and the nuptial is called off. Thus, furious Gokul dives into the sea and achieves one more at the skeleton of his son. But he is clutched by the octopus when Vijay & Roopa rescues him. At last, Zamindar realizes his mistake and pleads for pardon. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note, with the marriage of Vijay & Roopa and Gokul steering for pilgrimage.
