South Indian director T Prakash Rao wanted to make a film titled 'Suraj' with Rajendra Kumar and Vyjayanthimala. Premnath was supposed to play the villain but actresses were not comfortable working with him! So Rajendra Kumar suggested Ajit's name! Ajith used to do supporting roles in those days after the era of the hero passed!
Rajendra Kumar asked Ajith to play the villain! Ajith agreed and started doing villain roles. He tasted success with Zanjeer, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Kalicharan, Samjhauta, Kahaani Kismat Ki, Jugnu, Pratigya, Charas, Azad, Ram Balram, Razia Sultan and Raj Tilak... These were the days when #Ajith Naam Si film used to run!
