On the Urdu stage, she started her her career. Later, she
changed careers and made her screen debut in Veer Abhimanyu, a silent film by
Ardeshir Irani (1922). [1] She became a major female sensation since it was
customary for men to portray women in plays and films. Fair-skinned Fatma Begum
wore dark makeup that complemented the sepia/black-and-white graphics on the
screen. For the majority of the parts, both the heroes and the ladies needed
wigs.
She founded Fatma Films in 1926, which in 1928 changed its
name to Victoria-Fatima Films. She established herself as a pioneer of fantasy
film, employing trick photography to create the first special effects. She
wrote, directed, produced, and acted in her own films while working as an actor

In India, Fatma Begum was born into a Muslim household who
spoke Urdu. According to legend, Fatma Begum was wed to Sachin State's Nawab
Sidi Ibrahim Muhammad Yakut Khan III. [4] However, there is no evidence that
the Nawab and Fatma Bai ever entered into a legal marriage or contract, nor is
there any proof that the Nawab acknowledged any of her children as his own,
which is required in Muslim family law in order to establish paternity. She was
the mother of Zubeida, Sultana, and Shehzadi, three silent movie icons. [1] She
was also the grandmother of Jamila Razzaq, the daughter of Sultana and Seth
Razaaq, a well-known businessman from Karachi, and of Humayun Dhanrajgir and
Durreshahwar Dhanrajgir, the son and daughter of Zubeida and Maharaja Narsingir
Dhanrajgir of Hyderabad. She was also the great-grandmother of former model
