Mehtab (1913-1997) was an Indian entertainer of Hindi/Urdu films who worked from 1928 to 1969.She was brought into the world in Sachin, Gujarat, to a Muslim family and named Najma. Her dad, Nawab Sidi Ibrahim Mohammad Yakut Khan III, was the Nawab of Sachin, close to Surat in the territory of Gujarat. Beginning her profession in the last part of the 1920s with little jobs in films like Second Spouse (1928), Indira B. A. (1929) and Jayant (1929), she proceeded to do character jobs prior to acting leading the pack inverse Ashraf Khan in Go Kunal (1932). After very nearly 10 years of doing mostly activity arranged jobs, she became a force to be reckoned with the Kidar Sharma-coordinated Chitralekha (1941).


She wedded her initial co-star Ashraf Khan with whom she had a child. They separated later and she wedded Sohrab Modi in 1946. Modi cast her in the verifiable show Jhansi Ki Rani (1953), which despite having fabulous scenes and sumptuous sets couldn't function admirably in the cinematic world. She quit acting in films following 1953 but to act in her last job as a person craftsman in Modi's Samay Bada Balwan (1969). She passed on in Mumbai on 10 April 1997.[citation needed]

Mehtab acted in her initial component film Kamaal-e-Shamsheer (1930) with W. M.
