Munawwar needed to turn into a specialist, yet was diverted a proposal in films. This was a little job in the film, Dalsukh Pancholi's Khazanchi (1941), where she played a barmaid, and had a melody, "Peene Ke Racket Aaye" picturised on her. She went by the screen name Asha for this period. As per Patel, Munawwar came to Bombay from Lahore, civility of the entertainer chief Mazhar Khan in 1945. She became well known with her film Pehli Nazar, a job she expressed was one of her top choices.

In the well known melody "Dil Jalta Hai Toh Jalne Do" (Let the Ablaze Heart Consume) playbacked by vocalist Mukesh for Motilal, Khan zeroed in on Munawar's nearby ups during the picturisation.
1940s
Following Pehli Nazar, she was kept occupied through 1947 to 1949 working in a few movies. Baburao Patel wrote in the cine-mag Filmindia 1949, about her being one of the most over-worked entertainers alongside Suraiya and Nargis.
In 1947, Munawar acted in four movies Dard, Elaan, Andhon Ki Duniya and Naiyya. Dard was coordinated by Abdul Rashid Kardar under Kardar Creations. Despite no large stars being in the film, it ended up being a shock "melodic hit" at the case office. The legend of the film was Kardar's sibling Nusrat (Kardar), while Suraiya played the subsequent lead, with Munawwar Sultana as the principal heroine. Munawwar lip-synchronized three tunes voiced for her by Uma Devi, a Naushad disclosure. The tune "Afsana Likh Rahin Hoon" turned into a major success. Elaan gathered positive surveys for Munawwar. A Muslim social, the film was lauded for its "moderate mentality" towards the need of instruction. It was coordinated by Mehboob Khan and had Surendra as the male lead.
1948 saw Munawar in four additional movies. Parai Aag was created by Incredible India Pictures and coordinated by Najam Naqvi. The film featured Munawar with Madhubala and Ulhas. Vacha got back to Bombay Talkies and took over control. Their most memorable film was Majboor. The story was an "between common" romantic tale, with a Muslim kid succumbing to a Hindu girl. Munawwar shaped a "hit-matching" with Shyam in this movie, while Lata Mangeshkar became a force to be reckoned with under the music course of Ghulam Haider. Meri Kahani was coordinated by cameraman Keki Mistry and created by Sharaf for Super Group Government Creations (Bombay). The film co-featured Munawwar and Madhubala with Surendra.
