Sultana
One of the early Indian film actresses, Sultana, also known
as Sultana Razaaq, performed in both silent and later sound films. She was
Fatima Begum's (India's first female film director) daughter. [Reference

movie, Alam Ara (1931). [1]
Sultana was born in the western Indian state of Gujarat's
Surat. She had two actress sisters named Zubeida and Shehzadi. Fatima Begum,
their mother, asserted that Nawab Sidi Ibrahim Muhammad Yakut Khan III of
Sachin State was the father of her three daughters. However, there is no record
of a union or agreement between the Nawab and Fatima Begum, nor is there any
evidence that the Nawab has acknowledged any of her children as his own.

During the silent film era, Sultana was a well-liked actress
who was frequently cast in love scenes. She made her acting debut in Veer
Abhimanyu (1922)[citation needed] before appearing in a number of silent
movies. She later appeared in talkies as well. She moved to Pakistan in 1947
with her affluent husband Seth Razaaq after India was divided. With her
support, Jamila Razaaq, her daughter, also succeeded as an actress. In
Pakistan, she was the producer of the 1961 movie Hum Ek Hain, which was penned
by renowned screenwriter Fayyaz Hashmi. Part of the movie was shot in colour,
which was uncommon at the time, but it flopped horribly, and Sultana ceased
making movies after that.
